Man is charged with stab murder of chef
A MAN of 21 was yesterday charged with murdering a French chef after a classical music concert.
Reynald Duchene, 37, died of a knife wound to the chest following the open air event in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, last Saturday.
An Essex police spokesman confirmed that Karl Wills, of Southend, had been charged with murder and would appear before magistrates in the town today.
Mr Duchene, from South Woodham Ferrers, Essex, attended the concert at Priory Park with his fiancee Paula Haddlesey and her children and friends. They were celebrating her 44th birthday.
The chef, who catered for barristers and judges at Gray’s Inn, London, was declared dead at the scene.
A post mortem revealed that he died of a single stab wound.
Police arrested three other men, aged 18, 19 and 23, on suspicion of murder and released them on bail while inquiries continue.
