Pilot has passengers in tears as he makes emotional announcement on flight

Over five million people have watched the viral TikTok video of the American Airlines pilot giving a heartfelt speech onboard his final flight.

A pilot who had been flying passengers around the world for 32 years announced his retirement onboard his aircraft in an emotional speech.

The tearjerking video, posted to TikTok by @realjharrison has gone viral and gained more than 5.8m views, captivating viewers from around the world.

Standing in front of his passengers, pilot Jeff Fell, announced to the cabin that the American Airlines flight 2561 from Charlotte, North Carolina to Chicago would be his last, revealing: "If I get a little emotional, please forgive me for that."

Fell extended thanks to his "very important" family, who were on board for his retirement flight, for "coming along with me tonight and celebrating this very memorable time in my life".

The pilot held a piece a paper containing his speech and was visibly overcome with emotion on delivery.

He said his wife had been the "foundation" in their lives and looked forward to "the next chapter" ahead.

Captain Fell added: "I didn't want to get emotional but goodness gracious."

The speech was met with applause from the passengers onboard. Since it has been uploaded to the social media platform, TikTok, it has gained more than 750 thousand likes and 8,000 comments.

Well-wishers have offered words of encouragement and thanked the pilot for his decades of service.

One user said: "Think about all the people he’s transported from one place to another…". Whereas user, Maddie, wished Captain Fell a "happy retirement"

Another, TikTok user said: "Pilots deserve so much more credit, they are amazing I couldn’t even comprehend how to do what they do."

Meanwhile, TikTok user, Grid, became emotional while watching the video: "Seeing an old man tear up will always make me bawl my eyes out."
