Ice queen Amy Williams is the golden girl
AMY Williams shows off the medal that ended Britain’s 30-year wait for a solo Winter Olympics gold.
The 27-year-old from Bath took top spot on the podium after Saturday’s record-breaking run in the skeleton bob. The historic victory in Vancouver was cheered by her parents Jan and Ian and Slovakian boyfriend Peter Narovec, also a bobsleigher.
Williams, nicknamed Curly Wurly for her hair, is Britain’s first individual gold medallist since ice skater Robin Cousins won at Lake Placid in 1980.
