Police crackdown on bus drivers using mobile phones
POLICE are clamping down on mobile phone use by drivers - by placing officers on buses to spot offenders.
A new law will ban touching a handheld device for any reason on the road later this year.
Ten drivers were caught in an hour in Bournemouth yesterday - including a man using his phone with both hands off the wheel. Officers with Dorset Police sat on the top deck of a moving double decker bus and informed colleagues of breaches.
Sgt Lee Savage said: "An accident is four times more likely when you use your phone."
