Soldiers killed by rogue policeman brought home from Helmand
THOUSANDS of people braved rain and wind yesterday to pay their respects to two soldiers killed in Afghanistan.
They lined the streets of Grimsby as the bodies of Matthew Telford and Jimmy Major were brought home.
Sergeant Telford, 37, and Guardsman Major, 18, both of the Grenadier Guards, were murdered alongside three other soldiers by a rogue Afghan policeman in Helmand province on November 3.
Grieving relatives threw flowers on the hearses as the cortege passed Grimsby Town Hall.
A lone piper played a lament as standard-bearers from the Royal British Legion lowered their flags.
The funerals of both men will be held next week.
