Polanski hits out at judge
FUGITIVE film director Roman Polanski is planning a last-ditch bid to avoid extradition to America from Switzerland, writes Mike Parker.
His lawyers will plead for the case against him to be thrown out at a hearing in California on December 10.
They intend to claim that even though the 76-year- old Oscar winner pleaded guilty to sex with an under-age girl, the original judge committed “serious judicial misconduct”.
A TV documentary last year alleged the late Judge Laurence Rittenband took part in a conspiracy to send Polanski to jail despite the promise of probation if he pleaded guilty.
But law expert Jim Fedalen said: “The allegations won’t matter. He will be returned to America and face an impartial judge for sentence. Simple as that.
