The second May bank holiday is almost over meaning its back to work for millions of workers around the UK. On the bright side, Monday’s bank holiday does mean it is only a four-day week for most people. And the start of the summer is also just a few days away. The meteorological summer - used by meteorologists - begins on Saturday, June 1.
This will be followed by the astronomical summer, the summer solstice on June 21.
Both of which means the summer holidays will not be far behind.
But when will the UK summer holidays start?
State schools usually have approximately six weeks off for summer, starting at the end of July.
Dates may vary but most schools will break up from schools on Wednesday, July 24, not returning until Tuesday, September 3.
Be on the safe side by checking with your local council or individual school website as dates may vary.
Schools are now entering into their summer term and there will be one further half-term before the long August break.
This will be from Monday, May 27 to Friday, May 31.
When is the next bank holiday for British workers?
The next bank holiday depends on whereabouts you live in the UK.
Scotland does not have to wait very long as residents will get a day off on August 5 for the Summer bank holiday.
But England, Wales and Northern Ireland celebrate their summer bank holiday on August 26 so have a few more weeks to wait.
