Jolie tops pay league as Jennifer loses out again
LOSING your man to a rival is bad enough, but getting knocked off your perch as Hollywood’s top earner by the same woman can be quite a blow as well.
Former Friends star Jennifer Aniston, 40, has been pipped by Angelina Jolie in this year’s Forbes rich actresses list.
Angelina, 34, earned £1.2million more than Jennifer last year, thanks to a canny investment in the action film Wanted, where she took a share of the box office profits.
But neither star will exactly be struggling to pay the bills.
Angelina earned about $27million (£16.5million), while Jennifer, the former Mrs Brad Pitt, has earned a little over $25million (£15million) since 2008.
A spokesman for Forbes.com explained: “Much of Angelina’s earnings came from her share of the profits on Wanted, but she also scored a fat advance check for Salt, an action film originally slated to star Tom Cruise, in which she plays a CIA agent accused of being a Russian spy.”
The financial website spoke to agents, managers, producers and lawyers to work out what actresses were paid in advance for their roles.
Meryl Streep came third on the list with an income of $24million (£14.6million) in the last 12 months, most of it from her role in the musical Mamma Mia!
Meanwhile, new mother-of-twins Sarah Jessica Parker came fourth with $23million (£14 million), thanks to the success of the Sex And The City movie.
Cameron Diaz was placed fifth with earnings of $20million (£12 million), while Reese Witherspoon and Sandra Bullock came sixth equal, making $15 million apiece (just over £9million).
Nicole Kidman and Drew Barrymore were joint eighth with $12million (£7.3million).
And Renee Zellweger rounded off the top 10 with $10 million (£6 million).
British Oscar winner Kate Winslet earned $2million (£1.2million) to make it into 15th place on the list.
