Britt Pilton, 29, who was due to marry this summer, died from the effects of bulimia – but friends say she was the latest victim to be targeted by a senior colleague, who had driven out other teachers.

The alleged bully has now been suspended, while Miss Pilton’s devastated family are believed to be considering legal action.

An inquest into her death heard that Miss Pilton had been prescribed anti-depressants, but that her bulimia had been made worse by the anxiety she was suffering in her job at High Greave Junior School, in Rotherham. She was in a panic on the day she died, the hearing was told, after her lesson notes disappeared from a photocopier. She believed they were taken by the bullying teacher to throw her lesson into chaos.

Teacher Kelly Parkin told the inquest: “This one person would go round and bully a teacher until they left and Britt felt she was next.”

Coroner Miss Nicola Munday recorded a narrative verdict. She said: “She died from the effects of bulimia from long-standing anxiety.”
