Jet drama women arrested
TWO women accused of trying to open the door of a holiday jet at 30,000ft while drunk have been arrested – nine months later.
Mother-of-two Leanne Connor, 26, and office worker Lynette York, 27, thought they had escaped prosecution after their charter airline XL, which threatened to sue them for the £16,000 cost of an emergency landing, collapsed. But XL made an official complaint and police launched an investigation, quizzing other passengers.
Yesterday it was revealed that both women, who deny being drunk on the plane, had been bailed, pending inquiries.
The Crown Prosecution Service is now considering whether to take them to court. The flight, from the Greek island of Kos to Manchester, was diverted to Germany where the women, from Salford, were marched off the plane.
Leanne said: “This has been blown up out of all proportion.
“We have been made out to be a pair of slappers, who went away for a boozy week and caused a lot of trouble, but that is just not us.”
