Icy trip for wrong-way illegals
FOURTEEN illegal migrants almost froze to death in France yesterday after smuggling themselves aboard a refrigeration lorry they believed was heading to Britain.
In fact it was heading in the opposite direction. They were left exposed to temperatures of less than minus 10 degrees C. Within an hour of clambering aboard the lorry close to Calais they began screaming in panic: “We are going to die.”
The driver heard their muffled shouts as he stopped to pay a road toll on the Calais-Paris motorway.
The migrants, from Afghanistan and Kosovo, were treated for hypothermia and dehydration.
