Joan may have been in the industry for decades, but she still dresses to impress on every occasion possible, with her hitting the reopening of Hammersmith's Lyric theatre Reuben Foundation Wing on Tuesday night.

Wearing a satin skirt and sequinned top, the 81-year-old added some sex appeal to her outfit with a pair of fishnet stockings.

She rarely steps out without her diamond accessories and last night was no different, as she teamed lashings of red lipstick with a pair of extravagant earrings.

Actress attends London bash alongside fellow theatre-loving stars

Last night was all about musical theatre and saw young performers take on the classic Bugsy Malone to mark the revamp.

The likes of S Club 7's Hannah Spearritt and television presenter Gaby Roslin were also in attendance.

Theatre loving aside, Joan recently played The Queen's Mother in E!'s Royals and she was also recently honoured by Her Majesty herself, as she was made a dame.

The actress has had a successful career spanning eight decades, after training to be an actress at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA).

However, she insists she didn't become a movie star in the hope of one day celebrating damehood.

Joan told ITV News: "When you go to RADA becoming a dame or a knight or getting any kind of award is not something that is expected.

"You're expected to go to learn how to be an actor or an actress and learn to be good enough so that you can make a living for the rest of your life.

"Becoming a dame or a knight is not on the curriculum."
