The trio - minus fellow judge David Walliams - appeared at a press conference for the launch of BGT yesterday and were in good spirits.

Father-of-one Simon joked: "When you're stuck with people for ten hours at a time, you do get fed up with each other, but overall it's been fine."

Speaking about her relationship with the other judges, 44-year-old Amanda Holden joked she had been swearing a lot on the panel during the filming for series nine.

She said: "We got told off quite a bit this year. I think there was some serious fallings out. I think [Alesha] and David [were the worst]."

When quizzed about the rumours Cheryl Fernandez-Versini was to replace Amanda on the show, Simon confirmed this wasn't going to be the case.

Amanda added: "No she's bloody not. I have to say I do feel bitter towards Cheryl and she doesn't know anything about it."

The foursome were down to just three for the evening, with David enjoying a pre-planned holiday booked well before the date of the launch had been planned.

Simon said: "I spoke to [David] the other day, he's fine. But he's here in spirit."

Speaking about the rest of the team, music mogul and international businessman Simon said he wasn't contemplating axing Ant & Dec from their hosting role.

And the star laughed when a member of the audience questioned if he might replace them with Stephen Mulhern, 38.

Simon said: "I love Stephen, and he does do a brilliant job on Britain's Got More Talent, it is a great show. But I do love working with Ant and Dec. And they like doing it.

"I did wind Amanda up today, I told her she was being replaced three days a week on the live shows by Cheryl. Because she is younger and knows more about music."
