An inquest into Peaches death found that the cause of her death was opiate intoxication, and recorded a verdict of drug-related death. The coroner concluded there was no evidence it was deliberate.

The young mother had been taking the heroin substitute methadone for two and a half years before her death, but had started taking heroin again in February 2014, and 6.9 grammes of the drug were found in her house.

At the time of the inquest, DSI Fortheringham said: "There is no indication that Peaches intended to take her own life or harm herself in any way as she was reported to be of happy disposition and planning for the future with friends and family."

Peaches' tragic death is said to have brought the family together

In 2001, when Peaches was 11, her mother Paula Yates died of a heroin overdose aged 41.

Coroner Roger Hatch also told the inquest Peaches died as a result of "foolish and incautious behaviour," but he insisted that her passing was different from her mother's.

"It's said that the death of Peaches Geldof-Cohen is history repeating itself but this is not entirely so," he said.

Peaches' widow Thomas found her lifeless body in the spare room at their home in Wrotham, Kent, leaving her family heartbroken.

Shortly after her death, the singer said: "My beloved wife Peaches was adored by myself and her two sons Astala and Phaedra and I shall bring them up with their mother in their hearts every day."

Her father Bob Geldof added: "We are beyond pain. She was the wildest, funniest, cleverest, wittiest and the most bonkers of all of us. We loved her and will cherish her forever."

Speaking on Good Morning Britain today, Louise Gannon, who knew Peaches from when she was 15 and interviewed her twice a year over the last decade of her life said the Geldof had found support from each other in the wake of Peaches death.

She said: "I think the family have coped really well, I think in the aftermath of Paula's death the family just shattered apart. I remember Peaches telling me they just didn't ever speak of it, you know it was just carry on, don't talk.

"But the family have really come together as a unit and they've dealt with it in the most incredible, dignified way."
