SHE'S known for her controversial views on a number of topics, and today Katie Hopkins caused a storm on Twitter with her typically sharp-tongued comments regarding depression.

The 40-year-old took the social media site in the wake of the Germanwings tragedy.
Co-pilot Andreas Lubitz is suspected of deliberately crashing an Airbus A320 into the Alps and killing all 150 people onboard. It is believed he suffered from depression in the past.
Katie began: "Sympathy for the co-pilot is making me angry. If you are suicidal, for goodness sake top yourself in private. Attention seeking b******s.
"B****r the co-pilot. We should devote column inches to the pilot desperate to save the life of his screaming passengers. He is the hero."

The Sun columnist continued: "Prescriptions for a anti-depressants have gone up by 400% in America over a 10 yr period. Golly, depression must be catching....
"UK has seen a 500% growth in anti-depressants since 1991. Like being bullied, being depressed is a fashionable thing to be.
"There is no stigma around depression. There are only realists and people p***** off because their train is delayed.80% of GP's KNOW they are over-prescribing SSRI's (prozac etc). As with ADHD - it is an unnecessary medical solution to a social problem.

Katie's comments caused outrage on the social media site, with many users tweeting their disgust at her "abhorrent" opinions.
One said: "Your privileged life has given you no understanding of the real world, your views on things you don't understand are abhorrent."

Another user pointed out: "I have naturally low serotonin levels. If I don't take meds I'm unwell. No different to a diabetic needing insulin."
