Elton John's estranged mum books son's lookalike for her 90th birthday after family rift

AFTER their fall out seven years ago Elton John's mum hired a lookalike of her estranged son to help her celebrate her 90th birthday.

Sheila Farebrother danced the night away with family and friends as she enjoyed a number of Elton's hits sang by tribute act Ultimate Elton. 

The copycat – real name Paul Bacon – entertained guests, including Kiki Dee, at the bash in a converted barn.

Paul and the 68-year-old singer even joined forces to perform a rendition of Elton and Kiki's 1976 number one hit 'Don’t Go Breaking My Heart'.

Kiki told The Mirror: "Sheila’s 90th birthday was a really special evening.

"It was wonderful to see her on the dance floor having a brilliant time with so much love around her."

Sheila fell out with her son – real name Reginald Dwight – in 2008 after a comment she made to his husband David Furnish.

Asked at the weekend if she had been contacted by Sir Elton, she reportedly said: "No."

In 2011 Sheila spoke out about their row, saying: "He has cut me off completely. It happened three years ago this June.

Elton slammed Dolce and Gabanna this week following their comments about IVF

"He has had nothing to do with me since then. My son cut me out of his life for good."

She had previously got on well with the couple and was a witness at their civil ceremony at Windsor Guildhall in 2005.

This week Elton John became embroiled in a dispute with Dolce and Gabbanna. 

The singer slammed the designers as "judgemental","archaic" and "out of step with the times" after Domenico Dolce labeled children born through IVF as synthetic in an interview with an Italian magazine.
