So Lily James made sure she looked the part at the premiere of Cinderella at Los Angeles' El Capitan Theatre last night.

The Downton Abbey beauty cosied up to her co-star Richard Madden, who plays Prince Charming, on the red carpet after making sure all eyes were on her in a show-stopping silvery green gown.

The 25-year-old told her Instagram followers: "Thank you @ElieSaabWorld for making me feel like a Princess! Also, a huge thanks to @louboutinworld and @charlotte_olympia for my beautiful Cinderella-inspired custom-made Glass Slipper and clutch."

The long gown featured a sheer neckline and sleeves, as well as delicate embroidery throughout and a full skirt.

Lily - who plays Lady Rose McClare in the ITV1 period drama - wore her blonde tresses in a neat up 'do and let her outfit do the talking instead.

The blonde beauty also stars in the blockbuster alongside Hayley Atwell, Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter, Rob Brydon and Derek Jacobi.

Richard, 28, brought his girlfriend, Doctor Who's Jenna Coleman, as his date to the glamorous occasion.

The stunner stood out from the crowds in a long, yellow dress, featuring a delicate floral print.

Speaking about the story's subtle changes, Richard recently told The Guardian: "The original animated version was much more about this boy who comes to save the day and this version is so not like that.

"It’s the strong girl by herself and a young man coming together that makes the story, rather than a far more sexist view."

Lily is thought to be dating former Doctor Who star Matt Smith after they confirmed their relationship at the Milan screening of the film last week.

Cinderella hits UK cinemas on March 13.
