The film star looked jubilant as he walked through the terminal, after beating off stiff competition from Benedict Cumberbatch, Michael Keaton, Steve Carell and Bradley Cooper at Sunday's 87th Academy Awards.

The 33-year-old, who was reportedly greeted by more than 60 photographers, kept hold of new wife Hannah Bagshawe's hand after their flight from Los Angeles.

Wearing a tweed flat cap, The Theory Of Everything's Eddie looked casual in a thick black coat, dark blue jeans and scruffy trainers.

Hannah meanwhile, who wed her beau late last year, was spotted in cropped skinnies, a leather jacket and white pumps.

Eddie's continued clean-sweep of honours season could continue after he was nominated for best actor at the Jameson Empire Awards today.

He faces competition from two of the men he previously beat to an Oscar - Benedict and Bradley, as well as The Hobbit's Richard Armitage and Andy Serkis from Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes.

The star has already picked up a Golden Globe, a Bafta and a Screen Actors Guild award.

Sherlock star Benedict's film, The Imitation Game, leads the pack with six nominations with nods for best thriller, best British film, best film, best director and best actress for Keira Knightley.

That last award pitches Keira against Eddie's co-star Felicity Jones, Gone Girl's Rosamund Pike, Emily Blunt from Edge Of Tomorrow and Ex Machina's Alicia Vikander.

Three films, The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies, Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes and Kingsman: The Secret Service each got four nominations.

The winners at the awards, voted for by film fans and formally known as The Jameson Empire Awards, will be announced at a central London ceremony on March 29.

James Nesbitt, who hosts the event, said: "Last year's Jameson Empire Awards were an incredible experience. Hollywood legends like Tom Cruise, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Emma Thompson were rubbing shoulders with the next generation of acting talent and the atmosphere was electric."
