The 44-year-old actress looked youthful as she posed on the red carpet on yesterday, with many saying she was barely recognisable.

Blonde beauty Uma had her hair swept back off her face and went mascara-free for the A-list event.

Promoting her new TV miniseries The Slap, the mother-of-three had soft, smooth skin and flaunted a peachy complexion for the winter event.

The star stepped in to replace Mary-Louise Parker in the TV miniseries - based on Christos Tsiolka's bestselling novel - after the Weeds actress fell ill.

Fans on Twitter have been speaking of their upset at Uma's appearance

Flaunting very youthful, supple skin at the event on Monday - the speculation on Twitter is that Uma has been under the knife. This has not been confirmed.

One Twitter user said: "A few weeks ago it was Renee Zelwegger's, now it's Uma Thurman's face looking like she got the wrong surgeon."

Another added: "The face of my favorite movie has gone. Why Uma Thurman, why would you?"

Uma has never spoken about any desire to have, or have had, any plastic surgery or Botox.

Speaking to W magazine in October 2009, Uma spoke of living her life backwards and feeling much younger now.

The star said: "I feel like I lived my life backwards. Like Bob Dylan said, ‘I was so much older then; I’m younger than that now.’ Getting older has been a process of realising that I wasn’t as grown up as I had thought.

"When I was a teenager people often referred to me as jaded or knowing. It’s a classic teen illusion to think you know it all, but I’ve certainly learned I don’t. I’ve certainly learned the hard way. And that’s kind of nice, to realise that just when you think you’ve figured it out, life surprises you."

A representative for Uma has been contacted.
