The 31-year-old has gone on some what of a rant after reports suggested that she corrected X Factor's warm-up man Ian Royce when he referred to her as Cheryl Cole.

Speaking during an exclusive interview with Marie Claire magazine, Cheryl said: "People are so ignorant about it, they just start calling us Cheryl, but I'll take that, whatever."

The former Girls Aloud singer married French businessman Jean Bernard Fernandez-Versini in secret in July, and told the publication that changing her name seemed like the right thing to do.

"It's come quite naturally, you know", she added.]

Her boss, Simon Cowell, previously joked that she had married a man with a complicated surname so that she could become a one-name pop star

But the I Don't Care singer responded: "So I could be like Madonna? See how his brain works. I mean, who even thinks like that?"

Speaking about the father-of-one, she added: "In the early days I'd get phone calls if I wore a T-shirt (in an X Factor clip), where he'd be like, 'what the bloody hell were you wearing?'

"He wears the same moth eaten t-shirt he's worn for six years and he's calling up about what I'm wearing?!

"The moment Simon Cowell appreciates what I wear then that's when I'll worry," she added, after the music mogul recently compared her to Kermit the Frog because of a green gown she wore on the ITV show.

And despite having met Simon's baby son Eric, Cheryl admitted that she's not feeling broody and is not ready to start a family just yet.

"I've got 11 nieces and nephews, and I've been through every single stage with all of them," she told the magazine.

"I had three of them down a couple of weeks ago and I love having them but it's also nice saying, 'Bye! Go see your mam and dad now!

"I love babies, but not quite yet. I mean, never say never, you can never say never, in life. Full stop. About anything."

Cheryl is clearly enjoying being back in the limelight after taking a short career break.

"People were like, 'you're crazy, you shouldn't do this, it's a bad career move,'" she said of her decision to step away after being sacked from the US version of X Factor in 2011.

"(I said) 'It's me or me mental health.'... My gut instinct was like, 'it's enough'. For the first time since I wanted to be a pop star, I didn't have any fire in my belly. Without realising it, I had gone to a dark place, I needed to have a reality check and get some real feelings back."

This week Cheryl received a backlash from viewers who accused her of miming on X Factor last weekend.

On her Instagram page she retaliated when a fan commented on a snap of her new album cover.

The fan asked: "Do we get discount on your mimed performance you did on sat?"

Cheryl commented back: "Aww bless you live performances are not included on albums I’m afraid. And I performed on Sunday!

The star's comments have since disappeared but it seems the debate around her X Factor performance is still rumbling on.

The full interview with Cheryl can be seen in the December issue of Marie Claire, which is out today.
