But Star Wars legend Harrison Ford opted for something rather slower than the Millennium Falcon over the weekend when he hired a propellor plane from a British flying club.

The Shropshire Aero Club can now count the 72-year-old Hollywood star as its most famous member after he signed up in order to take on loan a Aviat Husky to fly while his is not on set for the seventh instalment of the space drama.

On Sunday the club’s chief flying instructor Bob Pooler flew from the organisations home at Sleap Airfield near Wem to deliver the machine to a landing strip near Buckinghamshire’s Pinewood Studios where Star Wars is being filmed.

Mr Pooler said: “Harrison Ford owns a couple of Huskys in the States so he wanted to rent and fly one while over here.
