Prince Charles gets down wiv da kids during South London visit
PRINCE Charles was the King of Cool yesterday when he did his best to fit in with a group of youngsters during a trip to the Oval Cricket Club.
When he graciously posed for pictures with his young fans, the royal was begged to try out a "street" stance, but he burst out laughing and politely refused, resorting instead to a more princely pose whilst grinning broadly.
Dressed in a sharp suit and tie, the Prince looked 'swag' posing next to the group of excited youths.
Charles met the youngsters, aged between 16 and 25, at the Oval Cricket Club on a personal development course run by his Prince's Trust during a day viewing the Duchy of Cornwall's property interests.
The 12-week project is run three times a year in conjunction with Lambeth College and uses the "spirit of cricket" to help change the lives of disadvantaged young people.
The home of Surrey County Cricket club is a landmark in the area and is undergoing a £2million development to create a new front to the pavilion originally built in 1892.
Charles chatted with site workers, remarking on the cold weather as he asked: "You've got somewhere to hide?"
Scaffolding supervisor Graeme Rolbiecki replied: "We've got a place round the back".
Richard Gould, the club's chief executive, joked: "We love to see the landlord."
Earlier Charles and Camilla met stone and wood carvers at the City & Guilds Art School in Kennington, South London - where staff and students created the classical sculptures that decorated the royal barge during last summer's Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
