Meghan Markle 'ducked' Met Gala previous years as she wasn't 'biggest player in room'

Meghan Markle has been rumoured for several years to be attending the Met Gala, however, she has never turned up.

Meghan Markle, it is claimed, chose to avoid the glitz and glamour of the Met Gala in New York previous years as she "she wouldn't have been anywhere near the big player in the room".

The Duchess of Sussex also joined forces with talent agency WME, which boasted a roster of Hollywood heavyweights including Rihanna, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Matt Damon in 2023.

Despite speculation at the time that Meghan might have made her Met Gala debut last year, she was conspicuously absent from the event.

Kieran Elsby, director of Media Global PR, suggests that Meghan may have chosen not to attend due to the competition for attention.

Speaking to The Mirror, he said: "I'm sure if she would have attended as she would not of made many headlines, with so much competition.

"It comes back to celebrities wanting 'All Eyes On Me' and she wouldn't have been anywhere near the big player in the room. So best to duck, dive and avoid, until she can find an event all about her."

He even suggested that Meghan may have avoided the event to prevent a blow to her ego.

The PR expert further claimed that the public are "very tired of her and Harry", suggesting that Meghan's absence from the Met Gala is a wise move.

The couple is now expected to "recalibrate" in an effort to shield their brand from further criticism.

In a separate development, Meghan has been dealt a harsh blow as a Royal expert cautioned that her new talent agency "will let her know she's not one of the most popular women in the world at the moment".

The former actress has inked a lucrative contract with WME, whose boss Ari Emanuel has previously collaborated with big names such as Mark Wahlberg, Martin Scorsese and Charlize Theron.

This has sparked rumours that Meghan signed the profitable deal with the top talent agency to establish herself as a "power player" in Hollywood.

However, Ingrid Seward, a Royal Family expert and editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, warned that the Duchess of Sussex will likely be reminded of her declining popularity early on in her relationship with the agency.
