Meghan Markle's decision not to join her husband in the UK next week appears to show that she has "no plans" to ever visit the UK again, one royal expert claims.

Prince Harry is set to return to London on May 8 to make an appearance at a special ceremony to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games - but Meghan has made the decision to not join her husband for the milestone occasion.

Meghan last visited the UK in September 2022 and made no return last year or in 2024 so far.

Following speculation that she could join Harry, royal expert Richard Palmer claims that her decision not to likely shows that she may never visit the UK ever again.

Taking to X, Mr Palmer tweeted: "Time can be a great healer so it’s difficult to be certain but it really does look as if Meghan has no plans to return to the United Kingdom."

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have experienced fractured relations with the Royal Family for some time, particularly since stepping down as senior working royals at the start of 2020.

Although Meghan has made several visits since stepping back, she has made fewer appearances in Britain than her husband.

Harry's visit to the UK was confirmed on Sunday, with no mention of him being joined by Meghan and their two children.

A tweet from the Invictus Games's official X account read: "The Invictus Games Foundation will celebrate 10 years of changing lives and saving lives with a 'Service of Thanksgiving' at St Paul's Cathedral on May 8th.

"We will be joined by our Patron, Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, actor Damian Lewis and members of the worldwide Invictus Community to mark the occasion."

Although she won't be joining him in the UK, Meghan is set to join Harry in Nigeria a few days later - for a visit that seemingly imitates a royal tour.

The Defence Headquarters [DHQ] have confirmed that the pair will be travelling to Nigeria in May.

Speaking of the forthcoming visit, they also revealed that Harry and Meghan will be meeting with Service members and taking on a host of cultural activities during their trip.

Discussing the visit with the Daily Mail, Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said that it makes sense for them to visit Nigeria.

Speaking to the publication, Mr Fitzwilliams said: "It's [the visit to Nigeria] a very good face saver with Meghan not coming to Britain and shows a bit of PR nous."

Meghan will have to to fly 7800 miles across the world alone "instead of joining Harry in London", the Daily Mail's Diary Editor, Richard Eden has said.
