Fergie wears 'simple and classy' £586 blazer - but Marks and Spencer lookalike is cheaper

Sarah, the Duchess of York - well-known as Fergie - has fans gushing over her sophisticated look.

On Saturday, April 20, the mum to Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, stepped onto a boat wearing a contemporary fitted blazer from clothing collection Smythe.

Titled "Duchess Blazer Camel", the tailored blazer has been a Smythe staple since 2011. The single-breasted blazer has a "cheeky" cut-out back vent and brass hardware detailing.

Bringing the limelight back onto the design, Fergie wore hers with a statement bangle and pendant necklace – and fans loved it.

One fan posted to Instagram: "Simple and classy." Another fan, Emma Hurley posted: "This jacket is a good colour for her and seems to fit well."

The Duchess of York is likely to have been comfortably warm too while out on the boat as the blazer is made from 100 percent wool, which could explain its price tag of around £586.

Wool is an eco-friendly design choice too, Smythe pointed out, as the material can completely degrade after six months in soil and within five years in marine environments.

Smythe said: "This woven fabric is both Oeko-Tex Certified (free from harmful substances, pollutants, and sustainably produced)."

Moreover, "no harm is done to sheep" to gather the wool for the garment, which was made in Canada.

A much more affordable version of the blazer is selling at Marks and Spencer (M&S), although there are some differences.

While the price point is much more modest at £69, the Relaxed Single Breasted Blazer has more of an on-purpose slouchy fit rather than a fitted silhouette.

The colour is Butterscotch, but there is still only one button, resembling the look of the Smythe Duchess Blazer in Camel.

Shoppers are very pleased with their M&S purchase, however, as one reported that the blazer "is a fab colour and looks expensive".

Chrissyanng wrote: "Lovely jacket. Relaxed fit as described but not too big. I'm a 10, but it didn't swamp me. Material creases a bit but not enough to spoil wearing it."

M&S described the "wool-look blazer" has an "on-trend" cut and has a "tidy finish", even if 67 percent of the material is polyester.

Regardless of the material composition – the other 29 percent being viscose and four percent elastane – purchasers are overjoyed with the bargain buy.

Bella Bumps posted: "I had seen this jacket in lots of magazines and was so pleased when it arrived. It was the perfect fit and can be dressed up or down. Lovely quality!" Mcloud said: "Love it. Fits perfect. Will look great at my friend's wedding."

Asda at George also have a lookalike Camel Button Up Blazer selling for £25, which is even more affordable. One shopper said: "No one can tell me this blazer didn't cost £200. The quality is impeccable. Thanks GEORGE for making quality clothes affordable and accessible."

However, another noted: "I'm 5ft 3" tall and a size 18. I ordered a size 18 which fitted me just right across the shoulders and round the body.

"The fabric, design and quality is very good for the price. As I am petite height the length was too long - it came to mid-thigh which made it look like a short coat and the sleeves were too long. This blazer would look better on a taller person. I returned it for a refund."
