Earlier this month, Meghan told E! News: “We’re creating new [traditions] now that our little ones are growing up. And we’re enjoying every moment of it. I love trimming and decorating the tree with my children.”

Currently based in California, Harry and Meghan are unlikely to have as many formal Christmas traditions as the Royal Family who spend the festive season at Sandringham.

The last time the pair spent Christmas with the rest of the Firm was in 2018 before they began to spend more time away from other senior royals.

It is with senior royals that the pair reportedly hope to improve their relationship within 2024, with King Charles a key target.

A source who spoke to Page Six said: “Harry and Meghan’s new strategy is reconciliation.” According to royal expert Tom Quinn, the pair are expected to try and “patch up the relationship as we get towards Christmas Day”.

However, Mr Quinn told Daily Express US he did not think the Sussexes would be able to outshine Prince William and Princess Kate. He explained: “I don’t think Harry and Meghan will be able to overshadow Kate and William this Christmas, or at least not in the UK.

"I expect the Royal Family will make sure William and Kate and their children are very visible right across the Christmas holidays as it’s a special time.

“I think Charles wants to make it very clear at a time when families get together, that he at least has a good relationship with one son, and of course with his daughter-in-law.”

Mr Quinn added: “I suspect that because Harry is beginning to realise he needs the royal family more than the royal family needs him, he may well try again to patch up the relationship as we get towards Christmas Day.”

There are also questions about how Harry and Meghan will navigate 2024. Speaking to MailOnline, royal expert Mark Borkowski predicted: “Something is beginning to unwind at the heart of Meghan and Harry.

“I think 2024 is going to be seismic, either because they're going to do something to recover and find a new positive tactic or it's going to be the undoing of the brand.”
