Omid Scobie addresses names appearing in Dutch version of Endgame

has taken to social media to demand answers from Omid Scobie after contradictory claims were made about the manuscript for the royal author's latest book, Endgame.

Last week Dutch versions of Endgame were pulled from sale as they included the names of those embroiled in the royal racism scandal, when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle accused two members of the of questioning what colour their son Prince Archie's skin would be before he was born.

Mr Scobie has so far denied any responsibility for the error, stating: "I never submitted a book that had those names in it", however it has since emerged an earlier draft featuring the names was sent to the Dutch publisher by a UK agent.

Mr Morgan posted on X, formerly Twitter, expressing his outrage at the author, saying: "I'm confused. Omid Scobie insists he never wrote any draft of his book which included the names. So how could his agent send a manuscript with them in it? Can you explain @scobie?"

A source told The Times that United Talent Agency had sent an initial draft version of the book to publisher Xander Uitgevers which contained the names.

A final draft of Endgame was later sent to the publisher, without the names, but it appears that the translators were working from an earlier copy of the book.

Dutch translator Saskia Peeters has protested her innocence, telling MailOnline: "As a translator, I translate what is in front of me. The names of the royals were there in black and white.

"I did not add them. I just did what I was paid to do and that was translate the book from English into Dutch."

The second translator, Nellie Keukelaar-van Rijsbergern, then told The Sun: "We are professionals and we've done this for years, both of us. It's unfair."

Mr Scobie at first put the publication down to a "translation error", while Anke Roelen, managing director of the publisher Xander, said a rectified edition of the book would be back on shelves on December 8.

Buckingham Palace are said to be considering legal action, after Mr Morgan took the decision to publicly name both the royals on his TalkTV show.

He justified it later on X, saying: "I'm outraged too - that the rest of the British media hasn’t done the same! Why should British people be barred from knowing what Dutch people know about OUR Royal Family?"

A royal source told the Mail: "I understand the palace is considering all options open to them.

"However, the key thing for them is His Majesty responding in the most eloquent way possible by getting on with business and not letting it distract from vastly more important issues regarding the future on the planet and bilaterals with other world leaders including those impacted by the situation in the Middle East."

Mr Scobie attempted to defend himself on Dutch chat show RTL Boulevard, saying: "The book is in several languages, and unfortunately I do not speak Dutch.

"But if there are translation errors, I'm sure the publishers will have it under control. I wrote and edited the English version. There's never been (a) version that I've produced that has names in it."
