Kate, the Princess of Wales will not be attending this year's Earthshot Prize, with Prince William set to attend alone.

Kensington Palace have confirmed that Princess Kate will not travel to Singapore in November - noting one sweet reason for her absence.

Having previously been expected to attend, a senior source explained: "The Princess will not be attending [the Earthshot Prize]."

As well as explaining that she won't be present, the source also noted that the couple's eldest son is the reason behind her decision to remain at home.

They added: "Prince George has exams that week and the Princess wants to be at home to support him."

It is believed that Kate does not wish to disturb George's education - especially as he is set for an important time in his studies.

She is also known to, like William, want her children to have as stable of a home life as possible, as well as preparing them for their royal futures.

As well as ten-year-old George, the couple also have two other children - eight-year-old Princess Charlotte and five-year-old Prince Louis.

Kate has attended every awards ceremony since they began two years ago, with the Mirror previously revealing that the Princess would not travel to Singapore. With this now confirmed, Prince William will travel solo.

Kate bought some royal glamour to last year's event in Boston, opting for a beautiful, floor-length green dress.

The royal couple were given a warm welcome as they arrived last year, with hundreds of excited fans present.

The royal also supported William at the 2021 event in London.

Stunning fans in a lilac dress, Kate - like at the 2022 event - gave a speech and presented an award.

The Earthshot Prize, which was founded by Prince William, was first awarded in 2021.

In keeping with William's passion surrounding environment issues, the project inspires optimism around the urgent challenges facing our planet.

Taking place over a 10-year period, the aim is to find and fund a total of 50 solutions for the devastating effects of climate change.
