Prince Harry’s new series Heart of Invictus will be released on Netflix at 8am today, August 30.

It is the first series to be announced by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Archewell Productions, and it focuses on the Invictus Games - an international adaptive sports competition launched by Harry in 2014.

The five-part series sees Oscar-winning filmmakers Orlando Von Einsiedel and Joanna Natasegara follow the competitors, the organisers and even Harry himself on the road to Invictus Games The Hague 2020 – which, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, had to be delayed until Spring 2022.

Netflix shared the official trailer for Heart of Invictus earlier this month and it looks set to take viewers on an emotional journey as they follow the lives of injured service personnel and veterans.

Harry, who is an executive producer for the series, opens the trailer speaking of the importance of the Games, which aims to inspire, improve and influence the recovery and rehabilitation of those wounded in the line of duty.

He says: “The Games doesn’t focus on what causes the injury but really about the recovery and how to be part of a community again.”

Later on Harry is pictured meeting competitors and saying “everyone is going to struggle at some point”.

The trailer also introduces several competitors who discuss the challenges they have faced. One powerful clip showed a Ukrainian woman speaking on a video call before stopping as shelling begins nearby.

Speaking when the series was first announced, Harry said: “Since the very first Invictus Games back in 2014, we knew that each competitor would contribute in their own exceptional way to a mosaic of resilience, determination, and resolve.

“This series will give communities around the world a window into the moving and uplifting stories of these competitors on their path to the Netherlands next year.

"As Archewell Productions’ first series with Netflix, in partnership with the Invictus Games Foundation, I couldn’t be more excited for the journey ahead or prouder of the Invictus community for continuously inspiring global healing, human potential and continued service.”

While the series was produced by the couple’s company Archewell, it is not yet known whether she helped with the production of it or featured in any of the episodes.

The show forms part of the Sussexes’ multi million-pound deal with Netflix – with their main output so far being last year’s controversial Harry & Meghan documentary which made a number of bombshell allegations against the Royal Family.

It saw the couple accuse Kensington Palace of lying to protect William, and Charles of lying at the Megxit summit.

The launch of the series comes in the run-up to next month’s Invictus Games in Dusseldorf.

Harry will travel to Germany for the Games, which start from September 9. Meghan will join him a few days later.
