July marks the month in which millions of school children around the UK get ready for their lengthy summer holiday. Usually a time to reflect, relax, go abroad, and play with friends, this year’s summer holiday will be world’s away from any that has been before. With the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown, things are likely to be less care-free with many families across the UK certain they won’t be going abroad for the first time in years.
The majority of children will return to school in September after the six-week break, including those who have been unable to return because of coronavirus, according to the Government.
Many children will be starting new schools, whether that is reception, primary, or secondary.
Parents around the country will share snaps on social media of their kids smarty dressed in new uniforms – a moment of pride and one to savour.
Similarly, last September, Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, shared a picture of their daughter, Princess Charlotte on her first day of school, accompanied by her big brother Prince George on their Kensington Royal Instagram page.
Charlotte and George sent the platform into meltdown as well-wishers offered their advice and congratulations to the little royal on her first day.
One person replied to the photo: “So sweet! Best of luck in school! It is hard to believe how fast they grow up.”
Another said: “Gosh, they are soooooo adorable!”
A third wrote: “These children are just the cutest ever! You just want to hug them constantly, love seeing their photos!”

Charlotte can be seen clutching at Kate’s dress and hand, initially hiding behind her.
The Duchess carried her daughter's backpack, which was decorated with a pink key-ring in the shape of a pony's head.
She smiled as she greeted Ms Haslem and asked about her summer holidays.
Ms Haslem bent down to shake hands with both George and Charlotte, who is fourth-in-line to the throne.
The Duke and Duchess accompanied Charlotte to her classroom before saying their goodbyes.
Prince William, who drove the family to the school, said: "First day – she's very excited."
It was a similar set-up to George’s first day.
He too was photographed, also greeted by Ms Haslem, after Prince William drove him through the school gates.
The Duchess of Cambridge missed the occasion as she was not well enough to take him.
