Children of immigrants should not get free education, says Nigel Farage
NEW immigrants’ children should not get a state education until they have lived in Britain for five years, Ukip leader Nigel Farage said yesterday.
Nigel Farage believes migrants should pay for their children's private education
Migrants would instead have to pay for private education until their children qualified.
The policy is explained on the Ukip website.
“Immigrants must financially support themselves and their dependants for five years,” it reads.
“This means private health insurance (except emergency medical care), education and housing.”

Mr Farage said this “difficult” policy would not be in the manifesto.
However, he said he was in favour of preventing new migrants from bringing their dependants with them.
Their children should not be given the automatic right to attend state schools, he said.
Mr Farage explained the policy.
He said: “Basically, people would bring dependants… after a period of time.”
