The horrifying moment a SIX-FOOT boa constrictor was removed from a car bumper

FIREFIGHTERS in Brazil drag a six-foot boa constrictor out of a car bumper after it sneaked into the hideaway to escape bad weather.

The car owner called for help when the snake disappeared after she spotted it slithering under her vehicle in the northern city of Rio Branco on the River Acre.

The city has a tropical monsoon climate and is in the middle of its lengthy wet season and suffering some of the worst flooding in its history.

Sidney Albuquerque, one of the men who helped capture the snake, said: “We looked everywhere including the boot and underneath the car before spotting it inside the bumper.

“Four of us had to prise it out. We had to be careful not to damage the car or crush the animal.

“We think it was looking for a shelter from rising flood waters.”

Around 90 animals, mostly snakes, have been rescued from firefighters over the past three weeks following local flooding as rivers burst their banks.

Rio Branco, where the current flood situation had been described as the worst in 132 years, has been one of the worst affected areas.

Thousands of people have been forced to stay at temporary shelters set up. One woman died after she was electrocuted entering her flooded home.

The Brazilian government declared a state of emergency in the area earlier this month.
