'Goodnight Europe' Incredible image posted by astronaut shows beauty of earth from space

IF you ever wondered what it would be like to look down on the Earth from the International Space Station - this image sums it up.

This is the incredible shot of Europe and North Africa at night, taken by American Astronaut Reid Wiseman.

Posting the image on his Twitter page, Wiseman, who has been living on the ISS in low earth orbit for nearly six months, wrote: "Goodnight to #Europe and northern #Africa from the #ISS"

The post was re-tweeted more than 2,000 times and favourited nearly 3,000 times.

Over the last month, Wiseman, along with fellow astronaut Chris Hadfield and ESA's Alexander Gerst have been posting a number of incredible images onto their Twitter feeds.

The team have posted videos, timelapses, Vines, and incredible images giving their followers a rare insight into the view.

One shows the timelapse of the moon setting on the earth, while another shows Super Typhoon Vongfang.
