Kate Middleton pictures: The Duchess of Cambridge visits Royal Opera House
KATE MIDDLETON arrived at the Royal Opera House this morning in a purple outfit to learn about the the stage costumes during her visit.
Kate Middleton paid a visit to the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden today.
The Duchess of Cambridge arrived at the home of The Royal Opera and The Royal Ballet to learn about the stage costumes and meet costumiers who turn out up to 600 outfits per production.
The 37-year-old chose a bright purple ensemble for the outing consisting of a fitted jacket with black buttons down the front and a matching skirt in the same hue.
Ballet fan Kate wore her hair in it's signature style of bouncy curls and added a pair of black tights and coordinating pumps.
Prince William’s wife, whose great-great-grandfather, Francis Martineau Lupton, ran a successful textile manufacturing business, will visit the pattern room and dye shop where staff will showcase techniques such as hand-painting and digital printing.
A tour of the historic costume collection, which includes items dating back to 1861, is expected.
Mother-of-three Kate is thought to have visited the Royal Opera House back in December with Princess Charlotte, three, to watch a rehearsal of The Nutcracker.
As part of today’s visit, the Duchess will watch Royal Ballet principal dancers Lauren Cuthbertson, Laura Morera and Vadim Muntagirov rehearse the romantic ballet The Two Pigeons.
This is the second royal engagement for Kate, who is also mother to Prince George, five, and Prince Louis, eight months, this week.
Her Royal Highness attended King Henry's Walk Garden in Islington yesterday to learn about a project bringing people together through a shared love of horticulture.
