Tapping Safari web links not working in iOS 9.3? Apple now has a fix for the glitch
IF YOU have been unable to tap or long-press any web links in Apple's Safari web browser after updating your iPhone or iPad to iOS 9.3 – there is now an official fix. Safari would previously crash or hang when links were pressed, forcing Apple to push-out a new version of the update.
Apple has issued a permanent fix for the iOS 9.3 Safari web link bug
Apple has pushed-out a fix for the second major problem with its latest mobile operating system, iOS 9.3.
Hundreds of users suffered problems with the default Safari browser crashing or hanging after installing the latest update.
The bug occurred when the users tapped – or long-pressed – on an link in the Safari app, or within the browser window in other iOS apps.
iPhone and iPad customers have flooded Twitter and the technology firm's own online Support Pages to complain about the issue.
Earlier this week, an Apple spokesperson acknowledged the problem and said a solution to the glitch would be out "soon".
And today the update is available.
Download the latest iOS update to patch the Safari glitch
Anyone experiencing trouble with their Safari web browser should navigate to Settings > General > Software Update.
Apple's iOS 9.3.1 should now be available which "fixes an issue that caused apps to be unresponsive after tapping on links in Safari and other apps."
Hit Download and Install to fix the problem.
iOS 9.3 includes a swathe of new features – including updates to Night Shift, CarPlay, News and Health – but there is really only one that's worth knowing about.
The news of the Safari glitch comes after a server-side issue hit iPhone, iPad and OS X users earlier this year.
The widespread bug caused Apple's Safari web browser to crash every time the address bar was clicked.
Apple pushed out the latest update to iOS on its fortieth anniversary.
