A recent survey by USwitch has revealed that a road in Kent receives shocking speeds of just 0.54Mbps, making it the officially worst broadband in Britain.

The people of Williamson Road in Romney Marsh wait:

  • 19 hours to download a two-hour HD film
  • 2.5 hours to download a 45-minute HD TV show
  • 49 minutes to download a 20-song music album

The research also revealed that a third of the UK still have sub 5 Mbps speeds, while 23% make do with speeds of less than 3Mbps.

Awareness of Fibre optic broadband, which relies on cables that are much better and quicker at carrying data than traditional copper wires, is still very low even though it is available to 78% of the population.
