Dyson’s new vacuum turns into a mop for easy cleaning - but is it worth £799.99?

Dyson is one of the biggest names in vacuuming, and a brand I have used and loved for many years. The company recently released an impressive cordless stick which can vacuum and mop hardwood floors, and it's been revolutionary.

I’ve used vacuums for many years, as well as many other brands, always reverting to Dyson because they know what they’re doing when it comes to .

Their v15s Detect Submarine has various interchangeable heads including a fluffy optic cleaner head which projects a bright green light on the floor to spot particles you don’t normally see.

Upon opening the box, I found it incredibly easy to locate each component and put the vacuum together, unlike some which come with so much packaging and sections.

The controls were also self-explanatory on the vacuum, with the trigger handle being held down to turn the vacuum on and the LCD screen feeding back real-time data on the particles removed, as well as the battery percentage.

The vacuum also lets you know how many minutes of run time you have left, rather than a percentage which I absolutely loved.

The fluffy optic head reveals two times more microscopic dust which has been extremely eye-opening when vacuuming around the home. Parts of dirt and dust I didn’t even think were there, were there.

It also has a Dyson Submarine wet roller head which has completely changed the game as it easily washes hard floors with clean water just by switching the head.

It’s made to deal with liquids, debris and stains on hard floors, so it’s not ideal for carpet use.

It features a small water tank towards the bottom, meaning no water goes anywhere near the vacuum compartment itself.

The compartment is 300ml big which is a decent size for a spillage or to simply clean floors. The tank is transparent so it’s quite easy to see when it needs refilling.

With a full tank of water, Dyson said the Submarine wet roller can perform for 16 minutes before the clear water runs out.

The vacuum has a Digital Motorbar cleaner head too, to powerfully suck dust and hair from all floors.

When it comes to the actual vacuum, there are three modes including eco, auto and boost. Each mode has a different suction strength and battery life.

Dyson said eco mode with a full green battery will give the longest battery life of the three models, up to 60 minutes on a hard floor.

I managed to vacuum my entire house on eco mode as well as use the hard mop floor on a three-bed home with the entire downstairs being hard floor.

Due to having cats, the floor needs mopping constantly to keep it clean and to avoid any paw prints tracking throughout the home.

The mop did an excellent job at banishing them, rolling over the floor effortlessly and leaving a lovely clean floor.

I did find it quite hard to disassemble the Submarine roller after using it to clean the floor, but this did get easier after doing it multiple times.

The floor was also left quite wet after finishing mopping but I did move over the same sections a few times in a row.

I also love how if you move to a certain area of the home where there is slightly more dust or dirt, the vacuum automatically increases its suction capability.

The new Submarine roller isn’t compatible with any of the brand’s other vacuums so it cannot be purchased on its own which is disappointing.

The vacuum currently has a hefty price tag of £799.99 on the Dyson website, with a two-year limited warranty.

Ultimately, Dyson vacuums are expensive because the performance is incredible, especially with the new addition of the wet roller which makes mopping effortless.

Having previously had my Dyson for eight years, I would definitely say the price tag is worth it if you’re in the market for a new vacuum and have that sort of budget.

It’s also best suited to anyone who has plenty of storage space for a vacuum as you’ll need to home three floor heads plus three smaller handheld tools.

There are also lots of other great vacuums on the market including VAX’s pet vacuum for £139, Hoover’s pet vacuum with anti-twist technology for £269 and Shark’s Anti Hair Wrap Cordless vacuum for £189.99.

I especially enjoyed using the Hoover’s pet vacuum as the suction is incredible and you don’t have to change the head for different floor types.
