Vinegar has long been hailed as a versatile household cleaner, known for its natural and eco-friendly properties.

The acetic acid in vinegar makes it an effective agent for breaking down and lifting stains, including oil.

Before you embark on using vinegar to remove oil stains from your driveway, it’s important to understand the process and ensure you have the right type of vinegar though.

Not all vinegars are created equal when it comes to removing oil stains. For this purpose, white distilled vinegar is the most effective choice.

Its high acidity level helps to break down the oil and lift it from the surface. Avoid using coloured or flavoured vinegar, as they may contain additional ingredients that could potentially worsen the stain or cause discolouration on your driveway.

Prior to sharing the four-step method to remove oil stains with white vinegar, he said: “White vinegar works wonders for cleaning your driveway.”

For this method, start by grabbing a bucket and mix together a solution of one part water and one part white vinegar.

If your driveway is particularly dirty or features some stubborn stains, you may need to use a solution with slightly more vinegar than water.

Next, pour the water and vinegar solution over the entire driveway. You may need to use several buckets to cover the entire surface of the driveway.

Leave the vinegar and water solution to do its thing for around 30 minutes or more.

After, use some buckets of clean water to rinse the vinegar solution from the surface of your driveway.

Simply pour the buckets of clean water over your driveway. Make sure to direct it to a drainage point. Finally, leave your driveway to dry naturally.
