Board members say banks have an 'uncomfortable journey' ahead

Dame Colette Bowe, chairman of the new Banking Standards Board and a former chairman of Ofcom, will be joined on the board by the likes of Institute for Fiscal Studies director Paul Johnson, former TUC general secretary Sir Brendan Barber and Citizens Advice chief executive Gillian Guy.

Bowe said: "Banks recognise the urgent need to raise their game.

"It will not happen overnight and it will be an uncomfortable journey but the time has come to win back trust."
