PizzaExpress aims to open 20 restaurants each year

It aims to open about 20 outlets a year and plans to grow its apprenticeship scheme by having at least one apprentice in each of its 448 restaurants nationwide.

Chief executive Richard Hodgson said: "We have a responsibility to invest in the future of the sector.

"This means investing in people, creating opportunities and giving our teams a reason to feel good about what they do and the contribution they make."
