House of Fraser racks up record sales after Black Friday boost
DEPARTMENT store chain House of Fraser racked up record sales over the Christmas period, boosted by a strong Black Friday.

The Chinese–owned company reported sales up 8 per cent in the six weeks to January 3, driven by a 31 per cent jump in online sales and a 4.2 per cent rise in shop sales.
On Black Friday sales were more than double against the same period a year ago and 70 per cent up on the previous record for internet sales.
Chief executive John King said: "This positive momentum continued over the entire critical selling period with a record sales level during the final week before Christmas."
Fashion retailer Jigsaw's sales rose 13 per cent in the five weeks to January 3 as it stuck to its full–price strategy despite discounting by rivals.
