Bristol says goodbye to Gromit statues
ALL GOOD things have to end, as residents of Bristol have just discovered.
AOver the past 10 weeks, the city has been adorned with 80 statues of Gromit, the beloved canine cartoon adventurer, pictured with his partner Wallace. Sadly, the statues were taken down last week and placed in one location for display at a five-day event in Clifton called The Greatest Dog Show On Earth.
The Gromit statues will be auctioned this Thursday to raise money for the Bristol Children's Hospital. The statues being sold feature a design by Sir Paul Smith and a floral print Gromit by fashion designer Cath Kidston.
Given the popularity of the Aardman Animation characters, I expect the statues to get snapped up faster than Wallace can say "Cheese, Gromit!"
