Beer tie Cheers for co-op that saved a local
DETERMINED villagers have won the fight to save their local pub after joining forces to turn it into a co-operative.
Customers are celebrating the re-opening of the Butchers Arms in Crosby Ravensworth, Cumbria, after raising £300,000 in three months. The pub was closed for a year and looked doomed to be sold for housing.
Nearly 300 people took a stake in the business, investing £250 to £20,000, with guidance from the Co-operative Enterprise Hub.
