Dairy Crest in Clover
COUNTRY Life butter maker Dairy Crest is stepping up its marketing campaign for key brands after the success of adverts featuring former Sex Pistols star John Lydon.
He helped lift sales of the brand and now the company plans to increase spending on other products including Clover spreads and Cathedral City cheese.
Chief executive Mark Allen said promotion was the key to higher sales. “We’re promoting 10 per cent more than last year,” he said. “We’d expect to continue.” Half-year results showed Dairy Crest achieved a 20 per cent jump in pre-tax profits from £28.4million to £34million.
The company said the newly-launched online ordering service for doorstep milk deliveries looked promising.
Started in September, it already has 150,000 registered users and Dairy Crest predicted this rising to 250,000 by next March. It is set to expand with the delivery of breakfast foods.
