Film studio Pinewood Shepperton's profits treble

PINEWOOD Shepperton, home to the James Bond movies and the latest Star Wars film, has seen demand for its studios reach an all time high as annual profit soared.

Its Pinewood studio – which will double in size after a £200million project was approved to add 100,000 square metres for stages, workshops and production offices – hosted major film productions, like Cinderella, during the financial year to March. The biggest production at Shepperton was the superhero film Guardians of the Galaxy.

A major upgrade to the firm’s television business was also completed, including a 4,180 square metres multi-purpose facility at Pinewood Studios, Q Stage. Profit after tax trebled to £5.4million on £9.1million higher revenue of £64.1million.

Chief executive Ivan Dunleavy said: “The company’s made an excellent start to the new financial year.”
