Review: Cirque Des Ombres at The Brickhouse, London
THIS month Shoreditch supper club, The Brickhouse, is bringing the circus to Brick Lane.
Cirque Des Ombres blends extreme cabaret and burlesque together with fantastical human stunts, offering guests the opportunity to enjoy the carnival experience whilst they dine.
Until Saturday 30th October, this Circus of Shadows, will mesmerise guests with a troupe of performers showcasing everything from stilt walking, to fire breathing to hula hooping.
At centre stage is three times world record holder, Preacher Muad’dib. This self-styled demonic clown is internationally renowned for his jaw dropping acts of human endurance.
This year, he was selected by Alice Cooper as the winner of the nationwide Britain’s Got Freaks talent competition, winning the chance to perform on stage with the rock legend.
Preacher’s signature act – and the stunt that ensured him a place in the Guinness Book of Records – is to balance a lawn mower on his chin.
Diners are then invited to throw vegetables into the rotating blades
Diners are then invited to throw vegetables into the rotating blades.
Preacher can also eat his way through a box of light bulbs, drill four-inch nails into his face, smash concrete blocks on his crotch and lie on a bed of nails.
Set inside the dramatically renovated Truman Brewery and spread over three floors, The Brickhouse offers patrons a unique drinking and clubbing experience.
The ground floor cocktail bar allows guests to enjoy an extensive range of delicious cocktails, wine and champagne, with space enough to dance and see the latest entertainment on stage.
The top tier features beautiful white beds where party-goers can relax, recline and take a break from the excitement below.
Head chef Matthew Reuter’s renowned four course meals accompany all performances and feature exquisite contemporary European cuisine. Dishes include rare tuna with wasabi foam, pork belly and wild mushroom risotto.
