Elvis Presley’s guitarist Scotty Moore dies at 84: Jailhouse Rock and Hound Dog legend
ELVIS PRESLEY guitarist Scotty Moore has passed away aged 84.

The musician, who was a influencial Rock 'n Roll guitarist, has died at his home in Nashville, Tennessee.
He was best known for backing Elvis at the start of his career, from 1954 to his Hollywood years.
Moore played guitar on Elvis’ first single, That’s All Right (Mama).
Part of The King’s backing band, The Blue Moon Boys, Moore played famous songs like Blue Suede Shoes, Hound Dog and Jailhouse Rock.

Moore ranked 29th in Rolling Stone magazine’s 100 Greatest Guitarist of All Time in 2011.
He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000 and the Memphis Music Hall of Fame in 2015.
Keith Richards once revealed that Moore was the reason he started playing the guitar.
He said: “When I heard Heartbreak Hotel, I knew what I wanted to do in life. It was as plain as day.
“All I wanted to do in life was to be able to play and sound like that. Everyone else wanted to be Elvis, but I wanted to be Scotty.”
After appearing in four of Elvis’ movies, Moore was fired by Sam Phillips, the boss of The King’s record label, Sun.
He was dismissed for breaching his contract after released a solo album called The Guitar That Changed The World.
Moore reunited with Elvis in 1968 for a TV programme called ’68 Comeback Special.

The guitarist went on to play with the likes of Ringo Starr and Ronnie Wood.
A film about Elvis’ famous meeting with Richard Nixon at The White House called Elvis & Nixon was released last week.
The movie stars Kevin Spacey as The President and Michael Shannon as The King.
