CD Review: Muse, The 2nd Law
ALTHOUGH opening track Supremacy is in thrall to Led Zeppelin’s Kashmir, it’s still Queen who underpin Muse’s musical mission but The 2nd Law takes them off in diverse directions from electropop (Panic Station) to sanitised dubstep on the schizophrenic Follow Me.
Whatever their influences, strip away the soaring, sometimes operatic vocals and bombastic instrumentation, and a compelling melody invariably lies beneath.
Muse’s sixth album achieves very lofty ambitions.
Verdict: 4/5
