Zelda Breath of the Wild 2: Proof Nintendo needs BoTW 2 release date ASAP
NINTENDO looks to have been given further proof that Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 is needed on the Switch soon.
Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel announced for Nintendo Switch
Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 is arguably the most highly anticipated Nintendo Switch game on the horizon. Announced at the end of the E3 2019 Direct alongside a short but tantalising teaser, all fans know for certain is that BoTW 2 is in development. It’s unclear when Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 will have its release date, with leaks suggesting a 2020 launch could be on the cards.
And as fans wait for more official Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 news it looks like Nintendo has been given a big reason to release BoTW 2 soon.
As 2019 comes to a close the House of Mario has revealed a list of the 25 most downloaded Switch games this year.
And, surprisingly, The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild is nowhere to be seen.
Titles such as Fortnite, Minecraft and last year’s NBA 2K19 were downloaded from the eShop more times than Zelda Breath of the Wild.
Even Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, which like BoTW was released in 2017, was downloaded more times in 2019 than the critically acclaimed Zelda adventure.
Even other Zelda games such as the recently released Link’s Awakening remake and spin-off title Cadence of Hyrule were downloaded more times in 2019 than BoTW.
The surprise download figures could be a sign that the time is right for Nintendo to release BoTW 2, and the sooner the better.
Anticipation is undoubtedly sky high for the new Zelda, with a recent Famitsu poll putting BoTW 2 as one of their readers’ most anticipated games.
Leaks have indicated that a 2020 release is on the cards, with it possibly coming to the Nintendo Switch in the run-up to next Christmas.
This would be ideal as it would give the Switch a unique selling point in the face of upcoming competition from the PS5 and Xbox Series X.
Both of those next-gen consoles are pencilled in for a holiday 2020 release.
