SWALLOWS and AMAZONS - Official Trailer
The most wholesome of books caused a major stir when the BBC decided that the name Titty was too much for delicate modern audiences.
The plucky nine-year-old girl will be known as Tatty in the upcoming big screen adaptation.
Lily Allen's half-sister Teddie-Rose Malleson-Allen will play the adverturous young heroine.
Titty's three siblings, John, Susan and Roger, escaped the censors, although we suspect the second boy might have been a close call with the thought police...
Swallows and Amazons still remains a perennial favourite
The new film stars grown ups Kelly McDonald, Rafe Spall, Harry Enfield and Andrew Scott.
Arthur Ransome's famous 193o classic tells teh hearty and heartening story of a young family who find adventure in The Lake District.
The four young children embark on a series of adventures aboard their own sailboat as The Swallows.
Given permission to camp out one night on an island in the lake, they find out they are not alone...
The film is set in the Lake District
The Swallows encounter the rather war-liek Amazons, aka the Blackett girls, Nacy and Peggy, and their mysterious and grumpy uncle, Captain Flint.
Throw in piracy on the high seas, bows and arrows and some actual Russian spies and you have a heady adventure.
The film is based on the BBC's own much-loved television adaptation from 1963.
The controversial new name change has mystified a former big screen Titty.
Lily Allen's half-sister stars in the new film as Tatty
Actress Sophie Neville played Titty in a 1974 film version of the book.
She said: "I've been Titty for the past 42 years. I didn't get any stick at all over the name in those days."
Swallows And Amazons will be released in UK cinemas on August 19.
